As one of growing group of engineers and scientists nationwide involved in commercial or academic activities in Computational Mechanics (CM), you need up-to-date information and an active network of contacts. Membership in GACM can help you obtain information and provide forums for meeting new colleagues and friends.
The objective of GACM is to promote, foster, organize and coordinate activities concerning computational mechanics in Germany and to represent German interests in computational mechanics as an affiliate of the International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM).
With GACM membership, you receive our news bulletin GACM Report and full access to the Online Members Area of GACM. These provide you with the following:
With GACM membership, you automatically become a member in the International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM). As a result, you receive IACM expressions, the regular bulletin of IACM, enabling you to access information from other national associations of CM. Through IACM you are connected to an international community of scholars and practitioners working in CM. Among others IACM is involved in planning numerous international symposia and workshops on CM research, including the World Congress on Computational Mechanics held every four years. Because IACM is an affiliate of the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM) you are also connected to this community of researchers. IACM also is a key participant in the IUTAM Working Party on CM charged with organizing mini-symposia on current topics in CM.
Through your GACM membership you are also linked with other organizations in the field, like the `European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS)', the `Gesellschaft fuer Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik (GAMM)', the `Deutsche Komitee fuer Mechanik (DEKOMECH)' and to all other national and regional organizations of IACM.
With GACM membership, you can meet new colleagues and maintain friendships through GACM-organized conferences, and short courses. You are entitled to reduced registration fees at various congresses, seminars, summer and winter schools.
